Esconderse 35mm photography

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, or “hidden port,” became a quarterly refuge
while living in Mexico City.

I’ve been struck there with the sensation of true aloneness, which feels
decidedly different to me than what I would consider loneliness.

The trees and the waves are far too present for that.

The beach town’s name originally comes from a legend about an
indigenous woman who was kidnapped by pirates and escaped,
hiding in the jungle. They called her La Escondida, The Hidden Woman.

Esconderse can be translated as " to hide away”, or, when referencing
celestial bodies, “to go in.”
